Graduate
Graduate 2005
“I had a certificate in the healthcare field but wanted to upgrade myself and get a full diploma. The program I was in helped me a lot and gave me a lot of confidence. Being a Community Health Worker is challenging work yet very satisfying. You need to be both mentally and physically fit, as you are helping people who have many different problems. I mostly work with the elderly and find it so rewarding to know I help people to stay in their own homes. It is a really good career and you also enjoy the people you are helping, as they all have such interesting lives.”

Your tuition fees may be achieved from one or multiple sources.
There are two public financial assistance programs available for students:
BC Student Assistance Program (BCSAP)
This program has recently been renamed Student Aid BC. This is a needs-based program designed to provide supplementary financial assistance to eligible students to enrol in a full-time post-secondary level course for a minimum of 12 weeks. The amount and type of assistance awarded is based on a needs assessment. With one application, students may access several different types of funding including: Canada Student Loan, BC Student Loan, and Canada Millennium Scholarship Grants.
EI Training Funded by Human Resources and Skills Development Canada
Human Resources and Skills Development Canada provide funding to unemployed individuals wanting to get back to work. The program assists people who are on Employment Insurance or have received EI in the last 3 years as well as those on maternity or parental benefits within the last 5 years.
There are several ways to finance your education using private funds:
Student Line of Credit
Most banks offer students an option to take out a Student Line of Credit to facilitate you paying for your education. You will need to be enrolled in a program and our admissions team will provide you with a letter of acceptance into the program to give to your chosen bank to confirm your commitment to your education.
Life Long Learning Plan
Under this plan that is also offered through the banks, any person wishing to study can borrow from the RRSP account of either themselves or their spouses. The loan is interest free and can be used to cover tuition fees and living expenses for up to 10 years. There is no payment required for the first year. You will need to be enrolled in a program and our admissions team will provide you with a letter of acceptance into the program to give to your chosen bank to demonstrate your commitment to your education.
Passport to Education
The Passport to Education Program is available to any high school graduate. It recognizes and rewards student achievement in Grades 10 to 12 in a broad range of academic and non-academic areas according to guidelines set out by the Ministry of Education. The intent of the program is to motivate all students to study consistently during the years leading to graduation, and to encourage secondary school students to pursue further education through post-secondary institutions and job-training programs. Passport awards are used to assist students with tuition toward their post-secondary education or job training programs.
